I am an Assistant Professor in the English Department at Friends University. I study feminist and rhetorical approaches to 20th century American literature, particularly the gendered implications of listening and power dynamics between speakers and listeners within Southern fiction. My other areas of interests include Southern studies, Epistolary studies, Women and Gender Studies, Disability studies, and Digital Humanities.

When I am not researching or teaching, I enjoy writing mystery novels. My two current projects are called Buried Secrets and Red Picket Fence. Hopefully, someday you will see these in Barnes and Noble! I am also a huge movie buff and an avid board gamer.
